In my opinion the best general-purpose device that you can get in this price range. For my purchase, I read some negative reviews from previous customers who are unhappy with Amazon's packaging of OEM devices. The risk of damage in shipping would be a real reason to shop elsewhere for such a sensitive issue, but cursing and frustration at such a page, I saw a note from Amazon that they had recently taken these problems, so I stayed to order unity. Here is the latest and I hope that the last word on this subject: problem solved. The focus will be sealed in an antistatic bag, protected by two end-mounted shock-absorbent plastic caddies, double boxing with the usual air-filled sealed. Pressure cookers, but strong coffee! By AD Minton I have been using Western Digital hard drives and computers 1998th In fact, I have never had anything other than WD hard drives (1 TB 4.3gig). In all my years of use I've only had two go bad, but never "completely" failed. This suggests that the consequence of Western Digital in terms of reliability. With that said, I love black caviar are three of them in my system - 500, 750, and now the new 1 TB SATA 3 (64 meg cache). Although there is a noticeable speed increase on my previous Caviar Black 1TB (32Megs), the previous version was / is extremely quiet! These new SATA disk 3 is LOUD! Sounds like a pot of coffee percolating in the highest boiling point, especially during startup and file access is very annoying, especially if the loudest part of your system! I put a system in an X i7 Cooler Master HAF case has 4 fans - a front 230 mm 700rpm less than 19 dBA (red LED), a Top 19 dBA, 7000rpm 200 mm, 140 mm a 19 dBA Rear 1200rpm. My Noctua CPU cooler fan reaches 19 dBA at 1200 load condition. At idle my ATI 4890 video card fan runs at around 27 percent, are in-audible over the other fans. My point .... My case is extremely quiet .... Store in New WD Caviar Black SATA 3 HD! By this I return to my previous 32Megs cache HD Caviar Black 1TB. BTW this is a replacement unit when I thought the first unit was defective, due to the same noise. So I called Western Digital on this topic ... and make a long story short, they say it is normal, and the drive was not designed with noise, if you want a "quiet" drive, you need Caviar Black. (I think Seagate wants to use it for movies - more on that below). So far I have found to work without problems, with some caveats: Pros: - My laptop (WinXP) sees it as a hard drive so I can drag and drop objects directly on my player, and able to extract the WinZip file of drives in a different folder on disk, and things are moving in general. - Powered USB Power, no need for a power cable - Transfer speed upload (USB2) from my internal hard drive is a little more than a concert than a minute to MP3 - I moved 18GB of music, in rows of two five Megs each, in just over 17 minutes, and 5 gigabytes of audiobooks in the zip file up to 300meg, in 4.5 minutes. This could change the disk becomes more fragmented. Disadvantages: It is not an external drive as a unit in one case. The "GoFlex" connector (not shown in picture) is a bus adapter to USB adapters, and others are available (Seagate USB Cable Upgrade GoFlex 30 - STAE104). Ditzik windows were responding reality, and then after a reboot, I have a message saying something like that was a bad boot sector. trying to "repair" the disc Windows 7 will not work. I have had excellent results with them on my iMac. I use mainly for storing data when the fast recovery of data is not a consideration. I am more concerned to connect the USB-based platforms when I need data. However, they are also interested in them in terms of power, just because ... well, precisely because they are interested in them. Over the years, I worked my way up the scale storage capacity of the disk hard. How many of you, I was rather shocked at the way these older models that warm. I swear, you can fry an egg on some of them. I never felt comfortable with their life, probably for fear of being burned. Fortunately, no one has done. When the Caviar Black product line coming out (1 TB was when I won the first release), I was quite fascinated by the power reduction claimed in the electronics industry, heat is the greatest enemy of the components. By Jeff Pittman We have 2 TB drives out there for less money, and if all you need is a huge space, you might consider one of these. Value added in this package is the backup software that comes with the device (in fact, delivered straight to disk.) WD SmartWare is a backup / restore package, once installed, the machine boots. If MyBook connected via USB port, will constantly monitor activity and make backups in the background as a result almost in real time without any action on your part. It also keeps multiple generations of files (you can choose how many), so you can go back to, say, three versions ago, if you need to download a spreadsheet or other data files. You can also use it on multiple computers. Backups are stored in folders with the same name is created on the PC. I tested it on a laptop Win XP Pro and a laptop computer and Win7 found no system slowdown at all Every time the light flashes on the disc, otherwise the backup can not be seen. The same unit is completely silent. INSTALLATION seriously consider the copy of the software included on the disc on a CD before you do anything.
