Large storage, but delayed by Steve I have tons of WD drives and have been around for some time (including two 2 TB green drive), so I decided to give it a chance, even with the ratings of the half / half was. This device is great! He hit it in my eSATA dock, turned, and Windows Disk Management saw at once, with the full ~ 2.7tb. The boots, and be sure to choose GPT and then formatted. Saw the entire Windows partition without problems. To test drive, I did a low level format, then a disk check. When they both came back good, I copied many files as I could fit on the disk, and then made another disk check. He came back well again, so I ran to see what speeds I was getting disc marks. When the unit was nearly full (~ 3 GB free), I was averaging around 30-40Mbps. after I formatted and ran the test again, I average ~ 60Mbps. Compare that with a smaller hard drive and you will see that it is significantly slower (I drove tryouts for a full-WD 500GB drive that is about 5 years old and average 80 Mbps) is 30Mbps much speed for streaming movies which is what I use it for. This drive is not the best boot drive, but it makes a huge archive. Since I have only owned it for about a week now, I can not comment on long-term reliability, but I'll update if anything happens. By Drake Johnson This is a reliable, quiet, cool-running, big SATA III HD. I have this drive to WMC (Windows Media Center) PVR. It took a lot of space on your hard disk, but it must remain very small and really cool in one package. If the speed (like me) put a small SSD drives in your system for the operating system, use the WD Green drives for storage. Something to consider: The 25 TB WD Green ad 3 used a bit more power (heat) and has a faster transfer rate. Download spec sheet Western Digital for more information about it. I did not know that I had tried to pass. This make sure the right connections for this CD - it's the SATA III, which is also called SATA 6 Gbps (gigabit per second, abbreviated, not gigabytes, Go Go is not the difference is a factor of 8 is ..) If this is confusing, ask someone to help you to get the case on the right side. There is not as hot as the old hard drive (which was produced by Hitachi) and is very quiet, seems to work very well and is supposed to be faster and consume less electricity. I think because it does not become as hot as it uses less electricity, but I can not tell if it's faster or not. Honestly, it seems to be the same speed as my old hard drive that was fast enough to avoid causing.
