The fan on the side is inaudible. Can't even tell it's running. The aluminum shell working with the fan does a good job of cooling the drive. This should extend the hard drive life a bit. The clear plastic pencil stripe on the front that runs from top to bottom lights up in neon blue when the hard drive is working. It's a bit distracting unless you're fond of year round Christmas tree lights. It was easy to install the drive and everything fit very well. It has worked quite well and I can recommend it to anyone. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great hd enclosure! By Holy Devil I put a WD green drive in it, and the hard drive benchmarked only very slightly less than attached to sata 6.0 Gb/s. USB 3.0 is a big plus because I can use the drive at it's maximum speed, and faster whenever I put a faster drive in it.Cooling is great.
