I wanted to upgrade my PS3 from a 40GB, so I decided to go large and purchased this hard drive. I removed my orignal 40GB HD and placed the 320GB HD inside my PS3 Console, hooked it up, then turned on the system formatted the new hard drive and loaded my backup.Every thing turned out beautiful and I now have more space for my games, music, and movies.
